Buyer questions
The short version of the ownership checks. Your exact machine, bottle and cylinder instructions remain the authority for safe operation.
Are all carbonation cylinders interchangeable?
No. Match the exact connection and cylinder specification approved for the machine. Confirm that your exchange service accepts that cylinder. Similar size or colour does not prove compatibility. See the supply-chain checks.
Can I carbonate juice or wine?
Only in a machine that explicitly permits that liquid. For water-only machines, carbonate plain water and add permitted flavourings afterwards as instructed. Other liquids can foam and contaminate components not designed for them.
Does a carbonator need electricity?
Many manual machines use cylinder pressure without electricity. Powered models and additional functions may need an outlet; check the exact model. Electricity requirements are separate from cylinder and bottle compatibility.
Can I use any reusable bottle?
No. Use only a pressure-rated bottle explicitly approved for the exact machine. A matching shape or neck is not proof of compatibility. Read the bottle-fit record before buying a spare.
Can carbonation bottles go in the dishwasher?
Only when the specific bottle is labelled and instructed for dishwasher use. Check caps and other components separately. A material symbol or approval for another bottle in the same brand is not enough.
When should a bottle be replaced?
Follow any marked expiry date and the manufacturer’s replacement rules. Stop using a damaged bottle earlier; an unexpired date does not make damage safe. Do not extend service life using a financial assumption from our calculator.
Does carbonation make unsafe water safe?
No. Use a suitable drinking-water source and follow local advisories. Carbonation is not a substitute for appropriate treatment. Seek qualified advice for a contaminated source or a private-well concern.
Do I need a water filter?
Not automatically. Identify the taste issue or contaminant concern, then check the exact certified reduction claim and replacement requirements. A filter advertised for taste does not necessarily address a health-related concern. Read the filtration guide.
Will making sparkling water at home save money?
It depends on usage, gas yield, exchange cost, bottle replacement and the drinks you would otherwise buy. Our calculator uses editable illustrative inputs, not price quotes. Include costs outside the tool before drawing a conclusion.
Have you tested the machines mentioned?
No hands-on or laboratory testing is claimed on this site. The guides explain ownership factors, documentation checks and clearly labelled illustrative calculations. Illustrations and contextual photographs are not test evidence. See our review method.
